Keynote: The Performance Mindset by Marcus Held | RabbitMQ Summit 2023
✨This talk was recorded at RabbitMQ Summit 2023. If you're curious about our upcoming event, check https://rabbitmqsummit.com ✨ ABSTRACT The best-case scenario has happened: The product is running. More and more customers are using it. The market accepts your product and sales turn on the tap. But then: customers report long load times and timeouts. You see restarts of the application. Bugs occur that can't be. Your application can't handle the load. What can you do? Switch to a microservice architecture? Change the datastore? Change the programming language? This is where doing the right thing is critical. How do you know your solution is the right one? How do you discover the root cause of the bottleneck? And can you do something to detect the problems before they go live? Performance optimization is not a one-time task. It's with you. Always. You need the right mindset. Every change to the system is sensitive. That's why your understanding of your system and its components is essential. • Follow us on social: Twitter: https://twitter.com/RabbitMQSummit LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/rabbitmq-summit/ • Looking for a unique learning experience? Keynote: AMQP Ten Years After by Alvaro Videla | RabbitMQ Summit 2023
AMQP Ten Years After | Alvaro Videla - Founder @ Backendhance ABSTRACT RabbitMQ embraced AMQP since day one. Along with that, it brought the vision of "everybody's welcome", by officially adopting various protocols into the broker, like MQTT, STOMP, and others. Now, "ten years after", we can see AMQP has been adopted by major players like Microsoft, making it an integral part of how Azure Messaging does interoperability in the cloud. In this talk, we will show at what scale products like Service Bus and Event Hubs operate, and also see how they use AMQP. We will discuss a use case showing how customers are leveraging RabbitMQ together with these technologies. There we'll see the strengths of RabbitMQ, and what doors it can open for real-time analytics in the cloud. In the end, open protocols are the solution to avoid vendor lock-in and also can make interoperability in the cloud a reality. A reality in which RabbitMQ and Azure Messaging both have a part to play. • Follow us on social: Twitter: https://twitter.com/RabbitMQSummit LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/rabbitmq-summit/ • Looking for a unique learning experience? Streams: past, present, and future by Arnaud Cogoluègnes & Karl Nilsson | RabbitMQ Summit 2023
✨This talk was recorded at RabbitMQ Summit 2023. If you're curious about our upcoming event, check https://rabbitmqsummit.com ✨ We will start covering the design journey of RabbitMQ streams, We’ll get into the storage and protocol prototyping process and talk about how it was tested, evaluated and eventually integrated. Then we’ll move on to covering some stream internals: design choices, compromises, sweet spots, and also limitations. Everything you need to enforce best practices and benefit as much as possible from streams. Lastly, we’ll cover a new exciting feature: stream filtering. This feature allows users to "partition" a single stream into smaller streams by allowing the broker to perform efficient filtering. We will go into how the filtering works from a technical point of view, what can be expected of the feature and where the limitations are. We may also indulge in a bit of blue sky thinking about what’s next for RabbitMQ streams. Let's keep in touch! Nobody wants to lose a single message… by Gabor Olah | RabbitMQ Summit 2023
✨This talk was recorded at RabbitMQ Summit 2023. If you're curious about our upcoming event, check https://rabbitmqsummit.com ✨ Nobody wants to lose a single message. When everything works fine, then all is easy. But what happens when things go wrong: the dreaded split brain, network partitions, losing disks. This is where the fun starts. In this talk we explore the technology powering RabbitMQ. We’ll scratch the surface of internode clustering, Mnesia and why we still need to know about them. New advances in RabbitMQ in recent years improved resiliency tremendously. We discuss how quorum queues and streams fit in and provide consistency and resiliency we always wanted. Understanding how the internals affect the operational experience can help us scale and avoid potential outages. A future proof design with the available features can be challenging but following some simple guidelines can take us a long way. Let's keep in touch! Serving millions of clients with Native MQTT and MQTT 5.0 by David Ansari | RabbitMQ Summit 2023
✨This talk was recorded at RabbitMQ Summit 2023. If you're curious about our upcoming event, check https://rabbitmqsummit.com ✨ This talk presents the journey to make RabbitMQ one of the leading MQTT brokers. We cover two major features that were developed in the last 12 months. The first feature is Native MQTT. Native MQTT is our new implementation of the MQTT plugin that does not proxy via RabbitMQ's core protocol AMQP 0.9.1 anymore. The results are spectacular: Memory usage drops by up to 95%, end-to-end latency decreases by 50% - 70%, and throughput increases by 30% - 40%. For the first time, RabbitMQ is able to handle millions of connections. The second feature is MQTT 5.0. You will learn about the MQTT 5.0 protocol and how your IoT workload will benefit from the new RabbitMQ MQTT 5.0 implementation. The talk concludes with RabbitMQ's road ahead for MQTT in 2024. How to Break RabbitMQ by Alex Valiushko | RabbitMQ Summit 2023
✨This talk was recorded at RabbitMQ Summit 2023. If you're curious about our upcoming event, check https://rabbitmqsummit.com ✨ Abstract: More than ever new RabbitMQ users today choose the cloud and expect a turn-key solution This creates a disconnect in which users don’t fully understand how the broker operates internally. This presentation highlights broker misuse patterns, identifies root causes, and suggests practical solutions to mitigate them. We will present official RabbitMQ material and documentation as well as discuss cases observed in our experience as operators. Let's keep in touch!
